Force Update Your Nexus One’s Software to Enable Multitouch
February 3, 2010 · Posted in Nexus One How To, Nexus One News
Couldn’t wait for Google to push the software update to your Nexus One? Well, the folks at the Android Forums has this work-around to force update your phone’s software.
Follow the procedures and enjoy the multitouch features of your Nexus One.
- Get the update from Google: http://android.clients.go…7-from-ERD79.a487b405.zip
- Put the update on your SD card & rename it to update.zip
- Boot in recovery mode (hold down trackball + power)
- Go to bootloader -> recovery
- Now there’s a picture of a droid with a triangle
- Press the power button + volume up
- Apply sdcard:update.zip
- Updating
- Reboot system now
Make sure to rename the file properly and put it in the “correct” root directory of your Nexus One’s SD Card. It took me several tries before I’ve successfully updated my phone software.

THANK YOU. I was looking for that all day.
2.1-update1 is go! ^_^
I have Cyanogen’s custom ROM on my G1 and a stock (not rooted) Nexus One – that update was really easy – thank you Google!
BTW the first time you reboot after an update usually takes longer – don’t panic
